We will be meeting at the Randolph Community Center (1415 Grayland Ave.). If you are not up for lifting bulk items, we will provide a trash picker to help tidy up any trash that has fallen out of cans.

Volunteer Events in Randolph
This past Sunday, June 26th, 23 RVA Clean Sweep volunteers collected street litter, laid close to ~100 storm drains and cleared some 3 foot weeds from the concrete median along Meadow! That was 26 community service hours donated to the neighborhood in a two hour time frame. Please help keep Randolph clean by picking up litter when you see it.
Coming up on July 9th we really need a handful of volunteers to help with the Alley Cleanup. We will be meeting at the Randolph Community Center at 8am and go through as many alleys as possible until 10am. We will be using SeeClickFix as a guide, so please be sure to upload any bulk items to the app. We will also have some volunteers picking up post-4th of July litter along Allen & Meadow. Fingers crossed it won’t be that bad this year!
We hope to see you on the 9th at 8am.

City Provides Storm Recovery Update
Richmond, VA – The City of Richmond is dedicated to supporting the needs of residents who have been impacted by the violent storms. City crews have been assessing damage and working with Dominion Virginia Power crews as well as local emergency personnel to respond to the needs generated by the damaging storms. Work will continue throughout the weekend, as this is a multi-day restoration effort.
In the city of Richmond, over 26,000 residents are still without power. Dominion Virginia Power is working with the City to restore service to streetlights and to residents as quickly as possible. Residents should prepare for possible streetlight outages this evening in the impacted area.
Many traffic signal lights remain inoperable. Residents are asked to stay off the streets as much as possible while the restoration and clean-up continues. Crews working on the cleanup and restoration are facing challenging circumstances and we want conditions to be as safe as possible for workers.
“City crews began responding to the storm late last evening and continued their efforts all throughout the day,” said Mayor Dwight C. Jones. “Crews will be working throughout the weekend and we will constantly monitor our progress to clear debris from city streets. Patience will be called for, especially with respect to very large downed trees that will require additional time to prepare the debris for removal.”
Residents are also reminded to stay away from downed power lines. The City and Dominion Virginia Power are working closely together to identify those areas where power lines need to be removed and where debris removal can then follow.
If you have lost power, be sure to report it to Dominion Virginia Power by calling 1-866-DOM-HELP (1-866-366-4357). For those residents resorting to alternative power sources, please do not connect your generator directly to your home’s wiring. Connecting a portable electric generator directly to your household wiring can be deadly to you and others. A generator that is directly connected to your home’s wiring may ‘back feed’ onto the power lines connected to your home.
For residents cleaning their own personal property, please place yard debris, such as limbs and brush, near your property line at the curb or near the alley for collection. Yard debris should not be placed in the street, alley or on the sidewalk. Those choosing to dispose of their yard debris on their own can take it to East Richmond Road Convenience Center, 3800 E. Richmond Road. Beginning tomorrow, hours are being extended to include Saturday and Sunday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Regular hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
For up-to-date information and additional instructions from the City of Richmond, please visit www.Richmondgov.com, follow the City on Twitter @CityRichmondVA, and stay tuned to local radio and television stations.
