Free Opera This Saturday
It’s free opera in the park at Dogwood Dell this Saturday. Virginia Opera performs its third free performance, a popular event that draws full capacity every year. Programmed with all ages in mind, this year’s Opera in the Park will feature music from “Don Giovanni” and “The Tales of Hoffman,” as well as highlights from this season’s upcoming productions including “Orpheus in the Underworld,” “La Bohème,” “Romeo and Juliet” and “The Flying Dutchman.” There will also be a handful of Broadway hits from “West Side Story,” “Into the Woods” and “Showboat.” Dogwood Dell opens at 6 PM, concert begins at 7:30 PM. Get there early to nab a seat. Picnics welcome, no alcohol.
