New future for the Old GRTC bus barn

GRTC “Bus Barn” on Cary Sold for Development

A nine million dollar bid from DKJ Richmond LLC has been chosen by the Greater Richmond Transit Company for the development of the seven acre site. The DKJ cash offer will allow the area to see development after years of environmental cleanups to remove bus-related chemicals. Bidders were not required to state their intentions for the property, but DKJ will conduct public meetings to allow for community feedback. In an interview on Tuesday afternoon, the group said they plan to keep all existing structures on the site and renovate them into about 112,000 square feet of residential and commercial space. For more information on the bus depot deal visit this article from Richmond BizSense.
