The Puppy Bowl airs on Animal Planet each year during Super Bowl Sunday, and this year, two local dogs are going for the championship! Atticus lives in Ashland and Hank the Tank in Short Pump. These two rescue dogs from Sanctuary Rescue went from tiny little newborn nuggets to pro athletes. Sanctuary Rescue is a foster-based dog rescue headquartered in Midlothian, Virginia, specializing in saving pregnant and nursing mama dogs and orphaned puppies from shelters.
“Hank and Atticus came a long way from their very pregnant mother being on death row at a rural shelter, to being born in rescue and making their way to New York City to be on national television,” according to Sanctuary Rescue.
