RPD Introduces Body Cameras

City Police Introduce Body Cameras

Embedded image permalinkPolice Chief Alfred Durham rolled out the department’s new body cameras Tuesday. Chief Durham hosted a pilot test, trained officers on how to use the cameras, and conducted a live demonstration of the gear. Richmond police will be introducing both types of the Taser cameras, which the company says has proven to help both officers on duty and the people who need their help. Studies show that once body cameras are implemented, use of force incidents drop up to 60 percent. Citizen complaints of use of force also plummet – nearly 90 percent. Several Virginia departments are already using the cameras. For more information: visit this ABC 8 article.
