Randolph residents, get ready to vote

A week from now you will be done voting in Virginia’s 2018 mid-term elections, right? If you haven’t already, now’s the time to check your voter information, including the location of your polling place, here.

According to our city’s website: The next election in the City of Richmond will be a General and Special Election on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 for U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives – Fourth District and School Board, 7th District. There will also be two Constitutional amendments on the ballot. Additional details on the Constitutional amendments can be found here.

Polling places are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day.  Anyone in line at 7 p.m. will be allowed to vote.

The deadlines have now passed to register to vote, update your registration or mail in an absentee ballot. But you still have time for in-person absentee voting at your local voter registration office. The deadline is Saturday, November 3, 2018.  Registrar’s Office City of Richmond: (City Hall) 900 E. Remember that Virginia law requires all voters to provide an acceptable form of photo identification (photo ID) at the polls. If you do not have an ID with you at the polls you can request a provisional ballot at that time, and you can receive instructions on how to provide your ID at a later date so your vote will be counted. For future reference, in the event you know you will not have an ID, please apply for a free Virginia Voter Photo ID Card. Contact the Registrar’s Office as listed above.

♦ Ask a friend or neighbor. If you are in Randolph, perhaps post on our Nextdoor.com to let your neighbors know you need a ride.
♦ Both Uber and Lyft announced they’d be offering discounted (or free?) rides – see apps for details.
♦ Mayor Stoney announced he was introducing an ordinance that would make rides on the GRTC transportation system free on Election Day. Local route GRTC rides will be free on election day.
