Yes, on election day you can ride GRTC for free

From GRTC’s website:

Customers can ride GRTC Local City of Richmond Routes and City CARE van trips FREE on Election Day, Tuesday, November 6, 2018.
No fares will be collected on City of Richmond Local Routes. CARE customers going to/from City polling stations must note this when making their reservations in advance to get their free CARE trips.
Most of the City’s polling stations are at or very near GRTC’s City routes. Explore this interactive map below showing GRTC City Local Routes, City polling locations, and voter districts, or CLICK HERE to launch this map in a new page.

Randolph residents, get ready to vote

A week from now you will be done voting in Virginia’s 2018 mid-term elections, right? If you haven’t already, now’s the time to check your voter information, including the location of your polling place, here.

According to our city’s website: The next election in the City of Richmond will be a General and Special Election on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 for U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives – Fourth District and School Board, 7th District. There will also be two Constitutional amendments on the ballot. Additional details on the Constitutional amendments can be found here.

Polling places are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day.  Anyone in line at 7 p.m. will be allowed to vote.

The deadlines have now passed to register to vote, update your registration or mail in an absentee ballot. But you still have time for in-person absentee voting at your local voter registration office. The deadline is Saturday, November 3, 2018.  Registrar’s Office City of Richmond: (City Hall) 900 E. Broad St., Room 105, RichmondVA, 23219. (804) 646-5950.

Remember that Virginia law requires all voters to provide an acceptable form of photo identification (photo ID) at the polls. If you do not have an ID with you at the polls you can request a provisional ballot at that time, and you can receive instructions on how to provide your ID at a later date so your vote will be counted. For future reference, in the event you know you will not have an ID, please apply for a free Virginia Voter Photo ID Card. Contact the Registrar’s Office as listed above.

Voting at the polls, resources on Richmond’s website.

Need help getting to the polls?

♦ Ask a friend or neighbor. If you are in Randolph, perhaps post on our Nextdoor.com to let your neighbors know you need a ride.
♦ Both Uber and Lyft announced they’d be offering discounted (or free?) rides – see apps for details.
♦ Mayor Stoney announced he was introducing an ordinance that would make rides on the GRTC transportation system free on Election Day. Local route GRTC rides will be free on election day.

According to the Virginia Department of Elections, the following items would be on your ballot if you are in the Randolph area. Note that we do not have a school board member up for election at this time. (Please confirm using your own address – this website makes no guarantees as to the accuracy of information provided). Randolph Neighborhood Survey

Randolph Neighborhood Survey

Dear Neighbor:

The Randolph Neighborhood Association is reorganizing our efforts in our
neighborhood. A neighborhood association draws people together and is a
great way to keep our neighborhood safe and neighbors informed about
City processes and programs. Neighborhood participation gives you a
stronger, united voice in civic life and joins us in shared neighborhood
projects.

Once our Neighborhood Association becomes organized and recognized
our Neighborhood Association will provide us with a clear, organized way
for our members to speak to City government and improves the two-way
communication between the City and our neighborhood residents.
We need your help in identifying and prioritizing issues in our
neighborhood. The information you provide will help our Neighborhood
Association and the City of Richmond. Please take a few minutes to fill out
this survey. The results of the survey will be shared with our neighbors at
our meetings and on our website.

If you choose to include your contact info in the related survey question, you will be entered into a random drawing to win a $25 Visa gift card.
