RVA Clean Sweep is partnering with the Capital District of Circle K International for this three neighborhood cleanup (Randolph, Oregon Hill & Uptown). They are providing a larger group of volunteers and we need a handful of local residents to help guide the volunteers through  neighborhoods.

Did you know Randolph has a site for Food Scraps Drop-Off? In Petronius S. Jones Park, near the Randolph Pool (1507 Grayland Ave) – you can drop off your food scraps for composting, year round, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Thanks to Sustainable RVA Zero Waste Initiative and Chip and Marshall Hall at Natural Organic Processing Enterprise (NOPE), cans are available for Food Scraps drop-off year round, 24 hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week.  You can email  questions or a request to be added as a Compost Program participant to SRVAZWI@gmail.com.

Starting for 2018, the Randolph Neighborhood Association is holding quarterly meetings instead of bi-monthly meetings.. All start 6:30 p.m. at the Randolph Community Center, 1415 Grayland Ave, (804) 646-1080, ending by 8 p.m.

Our first meeting for 2018 was Mon., Jan. 22, and remaining dates are as follows:

Applications are now being accepted for the 22nd Citizens Police Academy, September 20 – October 13 (Tuesday & Thursday Evenings), 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

This FREE Citizens Police Academy is designed to introduce citizens to the RPD, improve relationships with RPD, help participants gain knowledge of police operations, develop stronger advocates and promote safety in the community. Sessions will include, but not be limited to: Hands-Only CPR Training, RPD patrol functions, hands-on exercises, tours and so much more.

Richmond Va Department of Public Utilities is hosting a Citizen’s Academy. This is a four-week program in October (Tuesdays, 4pm-6pm) that provides Richmond citizens an inside look at the operations of DPU. You would be introduced to the five utilities DPU operates: natural gas, water, wastewater, stormwater, and electric streetlighting. Tours of various DPU facilities and demonstration of equipment will be conducted.

Richmond City Health District would like to invite you to attend their upcoming event “Richmond Community Conversations: Food Edition,” which will offer a unique opportunity to explore community perspectives on food access and nutritional health in Richmond. This past Spring, RCHD conducted a series of focus groups with residents across the city to better understand nutritional issues residents face in their neighborhoods including appeal, availability, and affordability of healthy food items. We received invaluable insight from 120 participants, and Richmond Community Conversations will serve as a platform to present our findings at East End and Northside community sites and engage residents in prioritizing next steps to combat these issues. Residents who attend these presentations will be invited to serve as active partners in building change in their communities by directly supporting RCHD’s growing food access initiatives. RCHD will provide free advocacy training to all interested attendees in partnership with the American Heart Association, and a Citizen’s Committee will be convened to advise RCHD leadership as an action plan for citywide and neighborhood-specific nutritional health is developed.
